Scaling mission-critical software for Europe’s electrified bus fleets with new Tenix investment

Europe is entering a decisive phase in the electrification of public transport. Thousands of diesel buses are being replaced by electric fleets over the coming decade, driven by regulation, cost pressure, and climate targets. In Norway alone, city buses are expected to be largely electric by 2028-2030, and 90% of all new buses in Europe being electric by 2030. By Q1 2026 more than 50% of EU citybuses are electric.

But while electrification reduces emissions, it increases operational complexity. Electric bus fleets require higher power coordination at depots, tighter scheduling, and continuous optimization of charging, battery health, and energy usage. At the same time, operators must navigate grid constraints and volatile electricity prices making energy management a core operational challenge.

This is where Tenix plays a critical role. Tenix provides a software that enables bus operators to optimize electric fleet operations across charging, depot logistics, battery performance, and energy consumption.By intelligently orchestrating when and how buses are charged, the solution reduces peak power demand, lowers infrastructure investment needs, and improves overall fleet efficiency.

With a leading position in Norway and adoption among all major bus operators, Tenix has proven its solution in one of the world’s most advanced electrification markets. Integrated with over 30 charger brands and 15 vehicle manufacturers, their charge solution is already supporting more than 1600 electric buses in daily operation across Norway. As fleets scale across Europe, the need for dedicated charging management systems is becoming universal regardless of charger type or depot setup.

“Electrification of public transport is accelerating rapidly, but it also introduces a new level of operational complexity,” says Terje Berg-Utby, Partner at Skagerak Capital. “When managed correctly, electrification creates a strong business case where reduced emissions and lower operating costs go hand in hand through more efficient energy use and optimized fleet performance. Tenix provides the complete digital solution operators need to manage this transition efficiently. With strong regulatory tailwinds and increasing demand from new electric bus tenders, we see a compelling opportunity for the company to scale across Europe.”

Skagerak Capital will support Tenix in its next phase of growth, including continued product development and international expansion, building on its experience in scaling Nordic climate technology companies.

“With Skagerak as a new partner, we are well positioned to accelerate our growth and expand into new European markets,” says Torbjørn G. Krøvel, CEO of Tenix. “Together, we will continue developing solutions that create clear operational and economic value for fleet operators while enabling the large-scale electrification of public transport.”
